Why do we use performance testing?

What is the use of Performance Testing?

performance testing is performed to determine how a system performs in terms of responsiveness and stability under a particular workload. It measures, validate or verify other quality attributes of the system, such as scalability, reliability and stability. It is done for online applications.

The main feature of performance testing is response time. The goal of performance testing is not only to find bugs but also to find the bottlenecks.

ScalabilityIt test the ability of a system, a network, or a process to continue to function
well.It is the testing of a software application for measuring its capability to scale up in terms of any of its non-functional capability like load supported, the number of transactions, the data volume etc.

Reliability :- The purpose of reliability testing is to determine product reliability, and to determine whether the software meets the customer’s reliability requirements.

Reliability testing may be performed at several levels.

Stability – How stable is the system under a heavy work load.
